I don't get to talk about music much (I don't know anybody who has similar tastes to mine), so this site seems like fun...is that what attracted you to yahoo answers? You can ask and answer questions about your kind of music...I've asked one question, but no answers yet....

Oh, and so this is an actual question about music...how extreme is your taste in music? For example, do you love Patsy Cline as well as Iggy Pop?

Gosh, interesting question.
Since my taste in music is so eclectic, I guess I could say that most people share my musical choices to some degree. However, I have found only one person who is as varied in their tastes as I am.
As far as extremes, I own over 5000 cds, and the artists include Mozart, Ying Yang Twins, Allison Krause, Beach Boys, Nine Inch Nails, Electric Hellfire Club, Frank Sinatra, John Lee Hooker, The Decemberists, Fat Joe, Miles Davis... well, you get the idea. And oh yes, I have both Patsy Cline and Iggy Pop. *grin*

No, most of my friends have never heard of the bands I listen to. It's not because they're obscure or anything, but our tastes are just polarized - I listen to mostly grunge, hard rock & metal (with some New Wave and older Pop & Soul mixed in) and they listen to R&B and Rap. I do share some common musical ground with quite a few R&Pers - that's not what I was looking for when coming here, but it's been a very nice discovery.

I briefly described my tastes above, and yes, they are extreme. I have everything from the Deftones to Stevie Wonder on my iPod, and I have Patsy Cline's Greatest Hits here at home. :)

My husband and I have the same musical taste, My oldest daughter shares my love of old school punk, and my youngest son is a metal head. So around my house we are either listening to music or talking about music or playing our instruments.

No on the Patsy Cline.

No one listens to the same music as me.
I have 1 friend that likes some songs by a couple of my favorite bands, but other than that they all listen to mainstream music that I would never even think about listening to. I'm more into indie and rock music that the majority of people don't know so, YA is pretty much the only place that I can talk about certain music and have people actually know what I'm talking about.
I'm constantly telling everyone about some bands I like, but it just seems they're not as addicted to music as me so they usually forget everything I tell them.

I listen to bands like Assassins and Vairon who nobody knows, to bands in the indie scene like Kill Hannah who are pretty well known and Envy On The Coast. I also listen to certain screamo and industrial music.

No, my family certainly not agree with me! A lot of others don't either.

1. Johnny Cash was possibly one of the worst singers I've ever heard. Why did the whole world love him?

2. Rascal Flatts is right up there with Johnny Cash and the lead singer is UGLY!

3. I don't like Reba Mc/Intire or Martina Macbride. Not that they can't sing, I just don't like 'em!

4. Bluegrass sucks. Rap sucks. Blues suck. Heavy metal sucks.

See? I have very strong opinions and I refuse to like something just because it's popular.

On the other hand I hate when someons says, "They can't carry a tune!" when really, they just don't like the music. Just because they don't like them don't mean they can't sing!

As far as musical tastes, George Strait is my all time favorite. He is about as traditional as you can get. I also like Nickelback, Cheryl Crow, Bon Jovi and a few others.

I grew up in a very musical family and my kids or husband are NOT!

No one in my life shares my music taste. I hate people in my life. I was starting this band but i doubt it'll work out because they just want me to learn boring Snow Patrol and U2 songs. How BORING. I have nothing against either band, but i'd rather not play their music.

I'd say only a handful of people on yahoo!answers share my music taste though. You'll come to find its full of emo and screamo lovers. My music taste is quite broad though, i listen to everything from Classic Rock, Alternative, Grunge, to Metal, 80's pop(yes), and everything in between

And yes i love Iggy Pop. He's in my picture, see him?

I hardly have anyone to share my music tatse. I have an occasional friend that listens to classic rock or metal, but most my friends listen to pop or rap. My parents hate my music. That is why I love Answers, so many people here share my taste. Who would have thought I would find a fellow 34 Satellite fan here?
My taste can range from Simon and Garfunkel (folk) to Opeth (border edge death metal)

All of my friends and I share the same musical taste. We all listen to indie rock, new garage bands, and alt-country. In most cases, thats how we became friends in high school, college and at work in the first place. I think music has the ability to bond people, at least musical fanatics. We like the lesser known bands in life, so its nice to have someone to talk about them with.
