never......

there isnt many advantages seeing as there will still be arguments over the seeding and the selection process. it will add length and injury to the season. keep in mind THESE GUYS ARE NOT PAYED TO PLAY! the bcs is flawed, yes, but its the best system available. as for everyone who talks about a "+1" system...technically they've already initiated the +1 by adding a 5th BCS game thus allowing 2 extra teams into a BCS bowl. that was pretty much all the +1 ever was. it was never meant to be a playoff type system, however analyst and sports writers like to refer to their idea of a 4 team playoff as the +1 system...

first it may happen, someday....

but i love all the "it's about the money" answers. Because in the 1920's they did it for the money. They didn't have a playoff and had bowls for the money. OK.

listen the bowls evolved into what they are today. it is "tradition" that's keeping a playoff from being implemented, not money, not the bowls. The Rose Bowl is in the BCS, but still wants a Big 10/Pac 10 match-up, even if there is a better game out there....why?? 'tradition'.

you have to change the 'tradition' of college football, then a playoff will come.

I think the BCS is moving to a plus one format.
i think that will be all the bowl games played, matching the number 1 team to the number 4 team, then the number 2 team against the number 3 team. the winners play a week later at one on the bcs bowl sites.

i dont think they will actually have a real play off system any time soon.

It will happen when the greedy bastards who run college football figure out a way to have a playoff and make more money than they do now. It's all about the money.

will never happen. Unfortunant too. To much money is involved for major confrencess to give up the bowl system.

Never. The system makes too much money and we all know that $$$$ talks and makes the rules.

One of the biggest problems is the timing. What will happen to the New Year's day games?

Sadly it probably won't ever happen, there is just too much money involved in the Bowl games.

Sad to say, but I doubt it will ever happen, too much money coming in from the bowls.

Dont think it will happen.
As far as how if it did... I liked the suggestion of 16 teams
11 Div1A conference winners + 5 @ large teams
