The is a great difference between being psychic and being schizophrenic.

If you are hearing voices and they go away when you tell them, ie. you are in control - you are ok. If you feel an overwhelming compulsion to obey the voices - get help - now!

As a psychic medium, I can vouch for the fact that children can have a great eye for the spirit world, but I'm also a psychology student who knows that mild disorders and hallucinations are possible and for the benifit of good health cannot be ruled out.

Both are legit, and many doctors can get it wrong.
If you want, hav eher email me one experience that is new-an I can see if it has any spiritual connection, maybe ask her questions and get to the bottom of it-I have been able to work with spirits since I was a child, and it's something I understand a lot.

Mediumship has conclusions, it's not distorted, and it has meaning -that helps people. If an illness it won't have meaning, there will not be any goodness from it and it may disrupt ones life.
There is a lot to consider and I won't know yet.
Mild disorders wont necessarily hav eall symptoms. Some ppl do have hallucinations without the rest-and there are some life threatening disorders out there that can come with hallucinations-which means I'd get a second opinion an dmore than a twenty minute visit.

Tough question, I'm always caught between parapsychology and psychology.

I think there's a chance she's really seeing spirits, and an equal chance that she's hallucinating.

The first thing I'd do is get her to see a real psychologist or psyciatrist and get a proper diagnosis. A diagnosis based on a 20 minute visit just doesn't sound right. I'll assume he was just giving you an idea about what he thought it was. She'd need to do some tests to help access what's going on.
The thing is, you just don't want to be wrong here, if she is having schizophrenic episodes, she could become a danger to herself or others if she's left untreated.

On the other hand, she could be a natural medium. If she is, then she'd probably have more control over the situation. I'm not an expert on that, so I'll leave that part up to those who know more from thier own experience.

Good luck!

It is a well known tale that children often see spirits because they are less inclined to be skeptical. It is believed that if you do not believe due to negative energy you will probably not see a spirit.

Yes I have seen, heard and experienced things that can not be explained by science and I am not schizo, mani, bi polar or any other mental illness. Some people, children included are more sensitive to psychic energy.

Does she see the same people, does she talk to them? Is there a way you can find out if they are people who have lived and maybe substantiate this idea that they are spirits?

Also has your daughter had any kind of testing like an MRI or such that would rule out mental illness? I wouldn't reccomend that type of extreme testing unless she is ill or a threat to herself or others.

She will probably grow out of this, there have been other documented cases of children seeing and interacting with ghosts or spirits. You should do more research on this and possibly contact your local paranormal society for some assistance.

It is very possible that your daughter is seeing spirits, children are more able to see them as they are still young.
As they grow older there are times when they will not see them as often or do not recall seeing them at all.
Some turn out to be wonderful mediums and psychic's.
You should check into this further, without making her feel uncomfortable, ask her if they speak to her, what their names are, and if she recalls what they have said to her.
There is a show on lifetime tv, Lisa Williams is her name, she was a child when she started seeing spirits. Her grandmother also did.
Here is a link to Lisa's page, when you have time read it over and check into her as she will say the same thing, it is scarey for children but it is nothing to really worry about right away as you can always ask another doctor for a second opinion.

She does not see the "spirit" of a loved one. She does see something that IS there that you can't, though. Apparently she was born with a common psychic ability that allows her to see energy sources. When the body dies, I believe the soul either travels to heaven or hell. But the force that gives the body it's compatibility to the soul is an earthly energy that is released when the soul becomes detached with the body. Every person you get near rubs a smidgen of their energy onto yours. Apparently her loved one left a rather large imprint on her, and the unique ability she possesses allows her to see this energy in the form of a person. However, some people see it in the form of balls of light, streaks of light, or even a feeling, like love, hate, sadness, or even chills up and down the spine, or temperature changes, that no one else seems to experience. This has not been proven, and I am a christian, so I do not believe in the soul's ability to remain on earth and linger around their loved ones. Besides, if your soul was left on earth, would you really want to follow around the same loved one every day? Also; sometimes multiple people see the same "person", or energy, but the soul cannot be divided into pieces. Well, maybe it can by evil satanic rituals, but I doubt anyone is of that level of idiocy to try it.

Hello Vis.I was a Ghost Buster for many years during the 1980's. I was haunted by a Spirit who was lost.So I began to reasearch the occult and supernatural phenomena. The big problem these days is all those programs on TV.Like Medium ,and supernatural films etc. Our young get kind of mesmerised by them.I see people who are not there, and I am a Spiritualist Medium. For your daughters sanity, I suggest your daughter does two things.First she 'images' White Light around herself, or your home whatever.White Light is God's Force field, and nothing menacing can hurt your daughter mentally. The other thing is to 'challenge' the Entity, by saying-'All who come through to me. come through God's Light and Love.' In this way your daughter can get rid of the'bad' ones.Anything else please email me.

Yes I have seen a ghost in our old house near Atlanta. Several other people saw the same aparition and described him the same way. Of course children also have imaginary friends. I had 3 Baby Brother, Old Man, and Cherry Pie. My sister had an imaginary puppy on a piece of gift wrapping ribbon. When she left it somewhere we would have to back and get it.

Well this really depends on who she sees. If it is a famliy member than it may well be that they never got to see her or say good bye so they are trying to. I wouldn't worry. But, if it is strange people like Elvis for example I wouldn't say thata she is a phyico just over-imagenitive. In no case is a child to be considered crazy just over-imagenitive. Now when she's older say 16 and still seeing these people I would seek help.

I've seen the spirits of my maternal grandparents. Children, because they are young, are more "open" to seeing ghosts than adults. As people grow older, they tend to close their mind to the possibilities that ghosts exist. Sylvia Browne has just written a book called "Psychic Children". You might want to check out her website to see information on that topic.
