The national news network that once brought us Huntley and Brinkley, John Chancellor, and Tom Brokaw, apparently wanted to give Ms. O'Donnell a daily program on MSNBC, which, in more than eleven years on the air, has not developed one well watched news program. Not one.
In the round-the-clock Nielsen ratings for October, the latest survey, MSNBC averaged a paltry 178,000 viewers per hour. That's down 9% from October '06.
By contrast, Fox News tripled that delivery !!!
And Liberals still don't get it !!
Thus, in desperation, NBC News turned to Ms. O'Donnell, a woman who asserts that the United States military has killed more than 650,000 Iraqi citizens, claims that 9/11 was an inside job, and rants that Evangelical Christians are just as threatening as al-Qaeda !!!!!!!!! Huh?
The entire nation now knows that NBC is an extension of the Far Left Wing Ultra Liberal propaganda machine. But to even consider to hire Rosie O'Donnell confirms it !
What say you?

I agree with RoVale. Let her have the show. There are some people who will watch, but I believe the vast majority will not. Look at what happened when they gave Phil Donahue a show on MSNBC. It lasted what -- two days? Just kidding, sort of. Phil's show didn't last very long at all -- because it didn't get the ratings or viewers.
NBC and MSNBC will get more ratings from the controversy being stirred up right now than any actual show given Rosie O'Donnell.

Oh, come off of it. Rosie O'Donnell herself said that there is no deal coming. Apparently, she was approached to do a show but the idea ended up being scrapped. Let it go. Besides, not everybody agrees with you. Even arch-conservative commentator Glenn Beck, who has a show on CNN Headline News, said that he welcomed the idea of her having a show because he likes competition. Why don't you feel the same? True freedom means tolerating and allowing an exchange of opinions and ideas, even if you don't agree with them. Trying to stifle or silence those opinions you don't agree with is a form of censorship and can lead to totalitarianism.

Relax. Rosie O'Donnell isn't taking the job which was offered. It was only for one year. She has seen that her departure from the view didn't cause the complete collapse of that show. And the chairman of GE (the folks who own NBC) probably didn't want their brand stained by her presence on that network or on MSNBC.
But, it does demonstrate how insular the world of the Manhattan-based media is. You see, Rosie is from "Joisey" and Imus isn't from the Tri-State area which defines the known universe of that media crowd.
I was born and raised in NYC and always light a candle in thanks of my escape when I reached adulthood.

I think it's important to stress that we, in America, are by definition a liberal nation. Liberal ideals prompted us to reject the idea of a British enforced state religion, and liberal ideals enabled us to reject a strict class system that would make the "American Dream" impossible.
The concept of democracy comes from early liberal political thought. Freedom of speech, the right to association, protection from double jeapardy, habius corpus... The list goes on and on.
So we're a nation of liberals. And rejecting our core ideals could be considered un-American.
Given this, it's reasonable to wonder how the word "liberal" became negatively tainted. Certainly anyone who uses it as a pejorative is guilty (at least) of linguistic misuse and (at most) of opportunistic disingenuousness. But the fact remains that when Bill O'Rielly screams that someone is just a liberal, he's implying a kind of second-tier, sloppy intellect coupled with a weak set of morals.
At least the way I understand it.
I think it's fair to say that this is simply deception by the right in order to win hearts and minds without any meaningful rhetoric or analysis. And this kind of deception is by anyone's measure a negative moral attribute.
Isn't it ironic that the right, in perpetrating this deception, are guilty of the very moral defecit they claim to be endemic on the left?
So to any of you who use the term liberal as an insult, just remember tomorrow morning, as you go to work unencumbered by random police searches, and you complain about the political process without fear of reprisal, and you purchase corn at a fraction of its real cost due to subsidies, remember:
For your entire way of life, your entire world view, and your entire raison d'etre, you have liberals to thank.
Without us you'd be nothing.
...and as far as the specifics of your question, I can't bear to weed through such a mess of unproven axia, begged questions, and strawmen. A little intellectual rigour (again, thanks liberals!) goes a long way towards proving one's sincerity and goodwill in a debate. As it stands your entire position is suspect.

Ditto. And how about the Green this week? I don't recall ever seeing a green peacock. If it wasn't for a couple of sitcoms on this network, I would never be watching it at all.
