I'm a first time mummy and from what i have see and learn from the elder, 6 months old baby will be given rice cereals (usually from nestle - www.nestle.com.my) and porridge when they are more older (around 7 to 8 months). It's a common thing in malaysia.

For me, i feel the food is very dull and i'm looking for some food like pumpkin puree (what i've read in the nutrition food book). I feel baby will be more excited to feel different kind of taste.

My baby is now 2 months old but i would like to learn how to cook/made the food in advance so that once he can start weaning i won't have trouble cooking for him ^^.

Thanks.

The good thing about babies is that they don't like complicated tasting things. So you can cook and puree almost any kind of vegetables, beans and fruit (you don't need to cook some fruits) And you don't need to combine them into complicated recipes until the baby gets used to the individual tastes. Its eaiest to start out with orange vegetables, starting with fruit can cause the baby to develop a sweet tooth and refuse any non sweet foods. And green vegetables are too bitter for a baby's first food. Try a baked sweet potato. Just put it in the oven until its very soft and then puree it and that all you need to do. It tastes wonderful as it is.

Any veggies and fruits can be blanched, or cooked, and pureed.

Its best to start with things like squash (like the pumpkin you're speaking of) and sweet potatoes. Peas, greenbeans, corn and other veggies together, and carrots. Then you add fruits like pears, apples and peaches.

Cook them well, puree them, and then run them through a screen. Dont add anything to season it, its not needed.

Later you can do things like chicken and beef or ham.
