My town has gone one better. Every year our local Community Center has a festival of trees where local businesses and individuals buy and decorate trees to be sold at silent auction. The proceeds go to local charities like the community food bank and the like. This has become so popular that we now hold non-denominational services in the Center's front lobby before the auction; lit only by candlelight and Christmas trees. I get misty eyed just thinking about it.
Oh, and yes, the services are 100% CChristian but all are welcome and as a result we have a smattering of Jews, Hindus, Muslims, American Indians, and even a few atheists to help us celebrate. About the only religious group that seems to object are the Jehovah's Witnesses who seem to object to just about everything anyway. We always say a prayer for them.

Oh yes, when I was growing up and even in my early twenties my family always went to Midnight Mass. I have great memories of that, even though I am not a Catholic anymore. Yes, I remember it being an emotional experience as I really loved God even back then. Now even if my church did offer a service at Mid- Night I'm sure I wouldn't go too late & too cold for me!!!lol!

I love the candlelight services! They are calming to the soul and the music is lovely and soothing. I too, tear up and I actually cried, when I first heard, "Mary Did You Know?". I could feel those words and my mind was thinking about how, this 16 year old, submitted her life and carried the Son, of the Living God!
Great question!

At a church in Singapore having a Christmas candlelight provider! in case you're certainly in Singapore, and you pass to a church that would not have one, examine with different church homes on your section. i could suspect one close to a U.S. defense force base would desire to furnish one. i do no longer think of Christianity is the assumption faith in Singapore ... are not they Buddhists? perhaps the church homes there do no longer do candlelight centers ... examine around.

I love it too! The candles are such a nice touch, it makes it more intimate and special, like bonding with the congregation. And I always get teary when we sing Silent Night, it's usually our closing Hymn. Man, I love Christmas time!

Yes I love it. I have gone to a Mid-night mass with my brother for years and his church has a live size Nativity that is breath taking. I can shed tears.

I particularly have liked it since my youth. One year, I was in the choir and we had a processional with candles we each carried. I set my music on fire and it was a hoot now that I look back, but then I nearly fell through the floor with embarassment.
