I began spotting and went to the doctor and had a transvaginal sonogram done. The sonogram showed the fetus pole but technician could not detect a fetal heartbeat. Did I miscarry?

Due to factors such as, the position of the fetus, size and shape of mother's uterus, size of the mother's body some people may not be able to hear the heartbeat until closer to 10-12 weeks (very tall and/or overweight people may have more difficulties hearing the heartbeat before 10 or 12 weeks).

This Does Not Mean You Miscarried.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

They will do blood work and probably another transvaginal in a week or so. That will tell you for sure.

In some cases the heartbeat doesnt start until sometime during the 6th week, or in some cases its so faint and so hard to find because of the placement and position of the embryo that it cant be detected.

Wait a week and see what you find out. Its not always a lost cause.

Sometimes you can't hear a heartbeat until you are 8-12 weeks along. If you miscarried you wouldn't have anything left inside and they wouldn't see anything. Some spotting can be normal it depends on your body, # of pregnancies, etc.

What did you doctor say? He/she will want to do a follow up. Don't panic quite yet..wait it out but also take care of yourself.

Good luck.

I wouldn't worry about it. Your baby still isn't quite at the "fetus" stage at 6 weeks. It's considered "cells" at this point. Most heartbeats aren't heard until 10 weeks, some as early as 8.

Don't panic... its still early. I didn't hear my son's heartbeat till 9 weeks. As long as the little guy shows up and your not cramping and bleeding heavy you should be fine! Good luck!!
