I have purple curtains that I used once a long time ago in my bedroom that are a deep purple color. Fabric is a 100% polyester...Im looking to use them in my new house as curtains in the family room...however I must dye them to match...the colors in my house are burgandys, olive green, gold, cream,

Im thinking burgandy would be best...

1) how easy is this to do
2) what KIND of dye do I buy and use
3) this is done in the washing machine correct? Does it REALLLLY come out of my washing machine if i use it..thats scares me!

THANK YOU!!

1. I'm terribly sorry, but Polyester won't Dye. It might stain it a little, but you won't get the color you are looking for especially since it is a deep purple. The only fabrics that dye well are natural fabrics like cottons and wools. Not polys or acrylics.
2. Rit sells fabric dyes that you can get at most grocery stores.
3. You would use Rit in the washing machine and it will come out if you run the machine again with bleach in the water afterward.

You could try a permanent spray on fabric dye that you can find at Hobby Lobby or another well stock craft store.
