my dad works on houses and has recently become angry at the Mexicans for taking work from him. He's starting to think that other things in America are crappy so he is thinking about moving to Canada.

Does anyone else see it?

This same problem happens in western countries in Europe also so your dad is not alone. The fault lies with profits, when bosses hire labour at a cheaper rate rather than giving the jobs to their fellow countrymen this problem will continue until government pass laws against it

Not me sweetheart I live in Scotland and we have a huge influx of eastern Europeans and I fear they may become an underclass as they work for less than the minimum wage and do jobs we won't, even if they have degrees. And for the P.C. brigade I am not racist or right wing, just notice how much our population has increased and the drain on the infrastructure, NHS, schools and benefit system. Moving to Canada is a fabulous idea - I know it would suit me more than America and the Canadians are so naive they are funny without knowing it.

Mexican work crews? Illegals should not be here anyway and when they take work from licenced carpenters? Most cannot read and write well enough in english. How good are they when you throw a blue print in front of them? I watched a crew of "Rafter Rats" hang boards all day for about $4.00 hr per crew member. They knew Toe Nailing but Joist hangers just sat in the boxes on the floor...They earn money payable to the team leader and who know how much he pays the members and charges for housing, food. RAT'S. Slavery would be easier! Illegal's kill people on the roads and run away?
Many Mexicans are fine people and are here just to work. Illegals with criminal records using false ID? USA really need to get a handle on this matter soon. Democrats and Rebublican's really seem helpless to enact legislation

There is irony & hypocrisy all over the world, not just the U.S.A.

Moving to Canada won't stop it.

Toronto is full of other nationalities, also.

Your Dad would waste a lot of money moving, only to find that life is similar in the new place.

No if Americans were not so lazy and did the work others are doing there wouldn't be a problem. Instead of staying and fighting for what you got go ahead and move to Canada. It'll catch up to ya there.

I do see the irony. It is now a very small global world. Maybe he can work WITH the mexicans as I think they are good workers with good family values.

it all depends on whether or not he decides too take up residency in Canada and what are the working conditions like there as opposed to here.
if he has a better chance of sustaining his business there , i say there is no irony in that, just common sense!!
