Well, I think they can be equal, but are very different.
I think everyone can have a close connected bond with their partner regardless of their commitment status.
After 10 years of being in a relationship w/ someone, one doesn't necessarily have to marry the other. They've already stuck it out for that long, so when it comes to a wedding, the point is moot. Especially if legally it would be a problem because of one spouse's credit or a rocky history or whatever.
On the other hand, for those having taken vows, it can help them further commit to the relationship and can keep the bond going stronger. This also seems more practical in our society as it lays everything out nice and neatly so there are not so many gray areas.

No its not BUT u have to look at the circumstances first.
If a pesron is having a commited relationship with u for many years due to his or her divorse problems then its good as after the dust settles then u can settle down but if its just for sake then simply NO.

No. This is not the same. That's why the committed relationship is not a marriage and not recognized by law.

It isn't the same as being married, but it should have the
same foundation. Trust and honesty. Without it, what kind
of marriage or relationship could you have?

Nope it sure isn't...see when you are dating things are a little bit more controlled by the boyfriend....when you are married the wife is the person in charge.
