What does Paul propose to do once they are brought home?

What do you think they should do?

***NOTE***
(if you do not think they should be brought home or you are not a Ron Paul supporter, I am clearly not asking for your opinion)

For those suggesting using the troops on the border, are you implying a military state at home?

Is it even legal to have the military man the borders?

For those that suggest sending the troops home to their families, are you suggesting shrinking the size of the military?

I'm not a Paul supporter but i believe he'd use them to protect America, and I'm all for that.

Stronger National Defense

btw the Paul is for free trade and handling situations with diplomacy around the world.. After 9/11 Paul voted in favor of entering Afghanistan.. and he supports the letters of Marquee and Reprisal to counter terrorism
For the most part Al Queda (sp?) has been defeated in Iraq according to our generals, source MSNBC.. it's time to stabilize the country and withdraw our troops.. Trillions of dollars that can be saved and we can take care of our veterans that are in need of medical care or homes to live in (CNN reported some veterans went homeless after their return) In addition to that there will be no need to raise taxes.. because the money we save can pay off our debt..

Technically, he wouldn't be able to.

The United States of America has responsibilities and agreements internationally and must fulfill them just like the rest of us have to.

But it's really nice political rhetoric designed to get him a few votes.

However, some group, somewhere really needs to be guarding your southern most border - perhaps the National Guard...hence the word "national" and not "international". Their job is to help out in national situations.

EDIT : having troops guarding your porous border, does NOT make the US a "military state".

Rebel groups in the Middle East do not want U.S forces there; hence, this is what sparked the original tension between the USA and BIn Laden. Ron Paul hopes to bring the troops home to alliveate the tension with Middle Eastern Countries!

Our troops have homes and families. What do you expect them to do? You know-- how about living like normal Americans for a change?

What I've heard him say several times is that our troops will defend our country and we can use all the money that's no longer being shipped overseas/blown up to fix the debt and eliminate the personal income tax!

Best plan ever in my opinion.

Isolationism does not work - this is an historic fact.
Of course everyone would like to bring all of the troops home, but given the present state of the world, this idea is both unrealistic and idealistic.
Ron Paul has many strong attributes, but this position is not one of them.

I agree with the second poster, guard the borders and remain ready if the need arises for them to go overseas.
