I would like to add that she was not alone in the house. Her older brother was in there.

Whatever you do, don't use oops or goo b gone. They both have an oil base and will only make it worse. Try pulling up as much as you can into some paper towels. The saturate the area with baking soda or crushed up kitty litter. They will both soak up the oils in the carpet. Repeat if necessary. Vacuum whatever you couldn't pick up and then repeat te process one more time for good measure. Then you can shampoo you carpet if you like but if you do it before, the pertroleum will only get spread around more and deeper into the rug.

vaseline is greasy
rub some Dawn dish liquid (the original blue one) into the grease and dab it with a cold wet wash cloth repeat till it's clean before letting the carpet dry. Dawn will get the grease out. I've tried the other scents but they don't work.

I placed vaseline in my weave greater advantageous than as quickly as and it became the hair all clumpy and attracted lint. Vaseline extremely makes the hair shinier, yet in no way softer. in the experience that your hair is broken, do no longer use vaseline. Use an extremely hair product :P So, i do no longer advise vaseline for the hair. in case you identify to apply it, use it VERY sparingly and in basic terms for shine!

clean it up as much as possible. then put som powder to pick up some of the grease. then vaccum up the powder and use some club soda to get out the stain. you can use hot water also. it helps to lift up grease. i hope this helps.

try goo gone after you get most of it up. Goo gone is awesome. it removed red nail polish out of my mom's berber carpet so i'm sure it can get out anything! :o)

You're lucky she didn't start a fire, drown, or worse.
You have a two year old, don't be so negligent. Let this be a lesson, you got off easy.

I'm glad you explained how you managed to get vaseline all over your rug. But, I was disappointed that it was caused by kids.
BTW - what were they doing with the vaseline that they got it all over their hair and in the rug?
