My favorites are Eraserhead, Trainspotting, Requiem for a Dream, Adaptation. Anyone know of any other movies along these lines I might like? Anything that really makes you think. Abstract is good, anything romantic is not.

The Station Agent
Unrequited Love~It isn't a love story and is most unusual.

Wendigo~Yes, there is a dysfunctional married couple, but hang with this one that delves into the supernatural.
Lost Highway
Dead Man
Liquid Sky~sci fi ultra-weird
The Caveman's Valentine
My Own Private Idaho
Heavenly Creatures
Blue Velvet
Repo Man
Pi
Revulsion

If you like Requiem, you should also check out Pi (like the math symbol) which is also a Darren Aronofsky film. It's about an independent and lonely mathematician who is obsessed with unlocking the true meaning of Pi via the stock market to prove numbers exist in patterns that can predict and determine all things. It's pretty crazy. You also might want to check out Audition. It's a Japanese film about a widower who, with the help of a show business friend, "auditions" women for a movie role, which is no more than a ploy for him to meet women. He begins a relationship with a beautiful young woman, when things begin to go psychotically wrong. Really eerie movie. Quick ones to consider: Memento; Half-Nelson; Natural Born Killers. Cheers!

Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire...both by David Lynch...very good movies. Best trying not to figure out what's going on when watching them but rather let them "wash over you". I also saw Dead Mans Shoes directed by Shane Meadows recently...a fantastic movie....a crime/ghost/western film all rolled into one!

I kind of like Amazon Women on the Moon. It's a satirical thing that's pretty funny.

Jesus' Son, quite an obscure film based on the writings of Denis Johnson (and featuring a brief appearance of the writer himself).
