And if there are any besides ours, is it possible that there would be other human like organisms?

There is only one universe, but probably more galaxies than can be counted. I work for a Space Center. There was an email that circulated titled "How Small We Are". It was made into a little YouTube video. I don't know if it will embed or not, but it doesn't hurt to try...

I am inclined to think that life on Earth isn't the only life in the entire universe. Our galaxy is huge. we are in a tiny little arm of our spiral galaxy. There could be other life forms in our galaxy.

I hate to sound like one of those conspiracy theorists or some crazy psycho... But really. We have sent satellites to distant planets in our solar system, but it would take hundreds of years for them to get to other systems. We have barely begun to explore.. Can we really think we are alone?

Ok, i think you are all getting mixed up with the terms. Uni means 1, so there is 1 universe. But galaxy is something else. The galaxies (more than one) make up the universe.

HOWEVER, there are over 100 Billion galaxies.
Now, imagine, our sun, earth, and the other 8 planets orbiting the sun are 1 galaxy, (aka the Milky Way galaxy because of how our stars are arranged).

Now, if one planet in one galaxy that we know of contains intelligent life (humans), then it is widely possible that there are other human-like organisms. However, because these galaxies are so far apart, for the near future it is physically impossible to contact or find out about any for sure.

But when you look at it this way, there are 1 out of 9 planets in our galaxy that we know has life forms, so if there are over 100 billion times as much as this, the chance vastly increases that there is other intelligent life in the universe.

There is bound to be more life forms in the world, but i doubt with our technology we may ever find it.

ONE, dammit! Thus the name. I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at the scientists who come up with this multiverse garbage. If there *were* other things that we would presently regard as Universes, then they would have the effect of only making THE Universe a larger concept which includes them. Same goes for previous iterations of a cyclical Universe.

Back in the late 19th century, scientists thought the Milky Way was the whole Universe. All those other galaxies they dimly saw in telescopes were believed to be just nebulae in our galaxy. In fact, the Milky Way was *called* the Universe back then. When they discovered that all these other things were Universes like our own, it didn't mean there were many Universes. It meant that there was one, which included many *galaxies.*

No, people, don't blame her. It's our own revered, credentialed experts who come up with this garbage: multiverses, parallel Universes, M-theory, 11-dimensional infinite string-woven intersecting undulating membranes that cause the Big Bang, yada, yada, yada!
(Guess where I got that, Mercury2.)

Mercury, "Donc, multiverse existe?" In all fairness, shouldn't you tell her there isn't a single shred of evidence supporting this multiverse claim?

Isis ----- nice eyes.
"Queen of the throne"

interesting......

anyway, back to the question.

if you meant galaxies then YES.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcBV-cXVWFw

if you meant universes then
An Infinite amount of universes and YES!!!!!

not just other organisms but other YOUs and MEs and EVERYONE ELSE

some universes might NOT include me,
others might NOT include you....
in others you're the President of the World
in others I'm in a cardboard box with red bull wings flying around in space..........
you and me might even be sharing a nice hot pot of green tea in Boston at this very moment.

Here's some crazy stuff.
If you REALLY want your question answered you must watch the whole thing (sometimes it repeats itself)

this is a follow up on the last comments made in the video

will we ever get to see the other universes??
I doubt it. and if we can't then does it really matter?

This guy has the closest way of getting there (proving at least time exists in multiple, possibly infinite aspects)

KBW3 I think we agree to disagree, but I must say if we were wrong THEN when we thought "the milky way was the 'universe'" Then might we also be wrong in thinking this is the ONLY UNIVERSE? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcBV-cXVWFw
the possibility exists......... or at least the math shows it can exist.
the math is evidence..... its not "tangible" because we cannot see it, but like I said, Dr Mallett seems to be the only person close enough to proving it is tangible. BUT, HE is even quite a stretch.......

In a way I do agree with you, but I'm not willing to turn my back to the possibility completely.

Like with black holes??

there was "no shred of evidence" of their existence either.

It was Einstein's mathematical !!Theory!!

People did not want to believe they could exist in our universe because we'd all be dead. Now, about 50 years later we find at least 1 in ever galaxy..................................
we still can't see them, but we know they mathematically CAN exist and we CAN see what they do to stars around them.

Je suis toujours hésitant de ne dire NON aux théories qui fonctionnent mathématiquement.

You're standing in the only one that we know of. How about we try a smaller scale and ask if there could be life of any sort in any solar system around any star in any galaxy?

By the very definition of the term (UNI-VERSE) just one.
How many dimesions this universe has, is another question (I've seen equations that posit up to 15)

I believe there are other Universes... But we might never be able to reach them. And yeah I also believe other life forms do exist though they are not human-like.

Could be infinite amounts of universes according to string theory. A multi-verse as you could say.

I always believed there was. Who knows how true it is. I'm sure there is humans or some other creatures out there that we don't know about.

Just one. And that one is plenty enough to make other life. But it won't be anything like us.
