I am currently writing a story and I want to cover all my bases and make sure it sounds believeable....

I have some one who has confessed to committing a murder and two attempted murders (to cover the first one up)...

He is a Colonel in the military - and it happened off post.

Is it plausibale that bail would be set?
How much?
And realisticly, how long would it take to go to court?

I am just trying to cover all my bases! (spell check did not work)
I thank you all in advance!

Bail is recommended when the offense is not grave and there is no strong evidence to support the case.

You perhaps would make a better case if you had examples. Myself, I don't believe this happens that often - if the judge believes someone to be a flight risk they will not grant bail. In our society we believe (or at least pretend) that you are innocent until proven guilty. If we keep you in jail until your trial comes up we are saying the opposite.

the key is he confessed to murder ,it is unlikely that he will get bail set.
