It was probably made in the early to mid 80's. It was about several teams that were grouped by color, that were in an "Amazing Race" type competition to win money. I remember the teams were identified by colors, and the white team was the nerdy team with Eugene. I don't know the dude that played Eugene's name, but he reminds me of a young Jerry Lewis. Does anyone know what movie this is?

the plot sounds like midnight madness which also was michael j fox 1st movie but I dont think they were team colors
and in 88 there ws a movie called bilion dollar mystery with eddie deezen the guy you mentioned but it wasnt teams just people in pursuit of money.

sounds like Rat Race which I believe as actually early 90's
