My husband is a Phillipino and his dad and brothers drink all the time before we were married. I often wondered why he did not. Now I know he was drinking with them when he wasn't with me. He just did not want me to know he drinks before we were married.

Alcoholism, (or any substance abuse) is defined by someone needing to alter their consciousness or emotional state by taking in chemicals of some kind. Addiction is defined by someone not being able to say no to a substance, or needing to justify and excuse its use. I cannot imagine that your physical state 18 years ago was worse than now, if at all any different, which means that assuming that is the reason is absurd. If he didn't want to look at you he would go to a bar and get drunk. I would say your husband has a problem. Addiction is a problem, regardless of how the abuser reacts when under the influence of a substance. Its still not healthy. While a beer or two in the evening has been shown to benefit men (but not women, who only benefit from a drink a week), sitting down and gouging on a 6 pack and beyond is not beneficial in anyway. Even if he doesn't see the effects now, he will some day. Liver and kidney operations were not meant to survive that kind of abuse. I don't know what to tell you to do, since he's the only one who could make the decision to quit.

Well I know my uncle also drinks beer everyday, but as I know is health is still good.

I only thing that I know is that beer make you fat.

Why don't you try to explain how the fact that he is drinking beer every night is making u so worry, and that u would be a bit happier if at least he try to drink less now, may be u might need just dealt with it.

Good luck.

If he truly drinks every night it will probably result in a bad liver condition one day.Not to mention the rift that will grow between him and any loved one thats around to see it,especially kids.

alcoholism
Cirrhosis Of The Liver
skin
alcohol is a very bad disease... The worst part of it is you can not help someone until they are willing to help them self... Good luck to you because it hurts the family just as much as the one who is doing the drinking

Many years of drinking will cause liver disease. He won't quit for this reason though. If you think you can change him, you are in for disappointment.
