My boyfriends ex-wife is trying to do this (I'm sure just to hurt my man) She is a total control freak, lies all the time, tries to scam him. She uses the child to get what she wants, with no regard to his well-being. Any stories to share? Thoughts on what to do about this?

Oh man, my sister does something similar. He is obviously NOT his new father, and shouldn't even be much involved in disciplining the child. The only thing you can do is keep reinforcing with the kid who his father is. If it's severe enough, start gathering evidence and keep a log of the things the child tells you (write down what the kid said and when), and then file a custody suit.

Only if the biological father is really uninvolved- and the kids should choose what to call their new stepparent.

If the biological dad is out of the picture then I would think this would happen naturally, but if the bio dad is TRYING to still be a dad to the kids, I would think the kids would not accept what their mom is saying about their new step unless their bio dad is a jerk.

The more drama any adult adds to this will only hurt the kids. Stay calm and act reasonable, you will look way more mature to them.

Well there are a lot of parents that use their kids to get at the other though it seems like more women do it. I thank God everyday that I have full custody of my son and have since getting divorced six yrs ago.
Any parent that tries to push a kid into considering a new bf/gf or even spouse to be their new parent is a straight up A$$

Just get over it. Some women and(and some men too) just never mature beyond a certain point. But take heart. What goes around comes around. Just make sure you don't get involved any more than you absolutely must.

I mean she could tell the child that, but don't expect the child to accept that idea , quickly, it takes time to get use to another person, especially if that person is going to be your new parent.

Your boyfriend and the child's mother need to have a talk about what's right and wrong when introducing new people....even new husbands.

You should stay out of it.....sorry.
