the malibu hybrid does exist. my dad took a test drive and
it would not be a good thing in the state he lives in as they salt the roads in the winter.something to consider when looking at so-called hybrids, does the engine still drive the
wheels, yes they do and as such are not true hydrids. the true hybrids are what you see on the railroads tracks you cross.
the locomotive are infact true hybrids in everysense of the meaning. the engine drives a generator which supplies
electric power to the drivewheels and these in turn make the whole train move. chrysler tried this concept in the early 90's
with the sebring convertible. a small gas turbine was the source used to turn the generator to send power to all 4 wheels. the engine was not connected to the wheels.
the throttle was used the same way but like on an electric
golf cart the farther you depressed the pedal the faster it would go. the drawback was the loud engine noise.

GM is taking a huge risk, advertising all over the place that they will be marketing the Chevy Volt Concept car in about two or three years, and that it will get more than 80 mpg. The only trouble is, they are betting that they will be able to develop the technology for this to happen - it doesn't exist yet!
I was pleased to see they have contracted with an advanced battery manufacturer in, I think, Monrovia, California to experiment on lithium-ion batteries. The trouble with lithium ion is that they tend to overheat and catch fire, especially when you use enough of them to power a car. My electric bike is powered with lithium ion, and I am very pleased with it. The recent huge computer battery recalls are due to problems with lithium ion batteries. GM will have a very red face if they can't pull this off.

Toyota wants to be number 1 so bad that they will do and say anything against GM, too bad they can't pass GM and it makes them mad, they better start paying attention to their quality as it is slipping terribly and the GM cars are surpassing them in quality, all Toyota can think about right now is putting out more cars than GM to be number 1 and their quality is showing it, they were #1 in recalls last year so I guess they got to be #1 in something.
