someone told me to rub my hands with stainless steel, but that's a crock. It doesn't work.

I disagree that stainless steel doesn't work. I use it all the time. You have to do it right tho--which is probably why it doesn't work for you. First, turn the water on and put dish soap on your hands and rub them on the stainless steel sink -takes a few seconds of steady rubbing. Or if you have a stainless steel bar like I do -- it looks like a bar of soap--just use it as if it is a bar of soap. I have used it for fish smells and onions and bleach--whatever won't come off with just soap. Try doing it the way I said and see if you have any luck I know it works for me

Use scented hand cream.
Stainless is to remove garlic odor.
What's wrong with the smell of bleach? It's the smell of clean. Ever go swimming? Smells like a pool.

Wash them well with plain soap and water, apply a nice hand cream and keep them away from your face for an hour or so. That should take care of the problem.
And you are right, stainless steel won't remove the scent. Only time will help.

I'm going thru the same thing. I tried scrubbing with lemon scented dish soap, baking soda paste, baking soda with dish soap, exfoliating hand scrub, scrubbing hard with all of the above with a hard dinner nail brush. Lime, Lotion. Nada. Nothing worked.

Citrus, if you have lemon or orange scented dish soap wash your hands with that...if not, use a real lemon, lime, orange, etc and squeeze the juice on your hands. Anytime I've cleaned with bleach I've done this.

Pet a skunk, ha ha. Failing that, try rubbing your hands with lemon juice. Whoever told you "stainless steel" was seriously being unkind. You might also try tomato juice. It works for skunk odor on pets, so it might work for onions. Good luck.
