I have been on birth control for about 4 months now, but have been on different ones. The first two months, I was taking a chewable kind (I couldn't swallow pills at the time), but it was the generic brand. I got my pills for the third month from a different pharmacy that only had the actual brand, but the pharmacist said it wouldn't make any difference. However, this month, I started the new Yaz pills. Instead of having 7 inactive pills, I only have four. I have taken three of the four - tomorrow will be my last inactive pill. However, I still haven't started my period and show no signs of starting tonight or tomorrow. Although it is unlikely that I am pregnant, it is possible, but I've heard that starting a new birth control and cause you to miss a period. Is this true or should I start to worry? I also have been sick with a bad cold and cough the past week, which I just finished antibiotics for. I know antibiotics make the pill less effective, so I used extra protection. Any ideas?

Taking birthcontrol can make you miss a period sometimes. Also, switching brands, whether it is just to generic does make a difference. the same thing has happened to me, and I have either gotten it a day late or not at all. That's what happens when you mess with your body's hormones. Also a pharmacist has told me that before to, but they are just working off of a percentage of people that have not experienced these issues. They aren't lying, they just can't predict what will happen to everyone. No need to be alarmed especially if you used extra protection for the time you were on antibiotics. It only takes about 3 or four days to leave your system anyway. You are probably fine.

She'll have an early period. Missing just one pill can do it. It happens to me all the time. In the middle of my pack I'll miss a pill and have a 2-3 day period and then have one again when my sugar pills start. Its normal.

Yes, starting a new birth control pill could cause one to miss a period because of the body trying to adjust to the change in medication. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
