Just get all mean on their butts.

Loving a football team is not just a default to where you live. I live in L.A., I HATE the Raiders!
I'm a Dolphins fan (I know, we suck really bad right now).

tell them all it's just a D*MN FOOTBALL GAME, and after the game ends, life goes on no matter who won. Tell those guys that if Cleveland does not make the playoffs this year, it will not be ONE GAME that caused it. Besides, no one expected them to win as many as they have already won this year by this time of the season. They are building for the future, but they are certainly not ready to compete with the Indianapolis or New England quality franchises. Tell them also to take what has already been given this year and be happy--anything else is gravy.

Who cares? They should be lucky that a girl in their class likes football and has a favorite team, because I doubt they'll find much more. So just tell them "at least I like football", or something.
