If Kosovo deserves to be independant so does Northern Spain, the land of the Basques, North Ireland, Darfur, Aserbaidshan, Tibet and many others (including Texas!). Why the double standard also of the government of the US?

Comparison to other countries is purely political. There is no global model whose logic everyone should follow. Allien models are purely guidelines to settling own issues.

Even the internationally set standards and rules are subject to political gaming. Powerful countries bend it almost as by will, while weaker countries stick to its every letter, surviving inbetween the balance of polarized interests. Actualy, there is nothing else than double standards all around. Depleted uranium, criminals of war, warmongering journalists who escalate bloodsheds, etc. all belong to the gray area.

NATO sees itself as the only prevailing force on Earth in the nearest possible future. It puts itself above any international agreement or norm. It sees itself as the policeman, judge and butcher.

The only argument the Kosovo Albanians are holding to is that they are backed up by mighty NATO in their wave against Russia. As reward, the Albanians have been given 20 tons of depleted uranium, death and destruction instead of being closer to EU, all for the sake of a better drug, weapon and prostitution dealing economy.

Kosovo has been in a long term independence movement momentum upon which NATO has stabbed its conquer flag. Even so, this does not mean they can do whatever they want with Security Council and other counterbalancing forces. Right now that is where the gaming is.

Their logic of bullying conditions to boiling point and then adding cold water, belong purely to political criminality cathegory.

The demographic factor mentioned in the above post is purely retorical argument. Does it imply that if Mexicans become 51% in Texas, that they could seek independence and join their "native land" Mexico?

Kosovo is sovereign territory of Serbia. Should Texas have the right to self-determination? What would happen to Texas is there were to be a majority of Mexicans there? Should Texas become part of Mexico?

First of all, Kosovo was inhabited by Albanians way before the slavic nations even existed. The Albanian people, according to scientific facts, are on the top 3 oldest people in the world. In Kosovo, Milosheviq took over violently in 1990's and tried to exterminate all Albanians in Kosovo (97% of the whole population, 2% are gipsy, and 1% serbs) by killing everyone including children and pregnant women, and old people. Serbia has been the main reason for WWI (when they shot Prince Ferdinand of Austro-Hungaria) and they certainly are not fit nor worthy of keeping kosovo any longer. If montenegro became independent with half the size of Kosovo, without war, and with only 600,000 people, then why can't Kosovo be independent when the country that's trying to keep them tried to kill all of them , when they have twice the size of montenegro and 4 times the population?? think about it. The only logical answer and solution to the problem of Balkans is to give independence to Kosovo because Serbia only knows how to slaughter innocent people. America does not have a double standard btw because Texas can split from the union whenever they please but they do not want to. I am in texas at the moment by the way so take my answer for granted. The only state in American that can fly their state flag the same height with the national flag, is TEXAS. all other states cannot raise their flag as high as the national flag. Democracy and majority vote is the civil way of governing a people. When the majority want something, they should get it. Kosovo WILL become independent within the next two or three months.

Arguably, Kosovo should be an independent state (or leave Serbia and link up with Albania) because the vast majority of its population are Albanian.
The Basque issue is clouded byt the fact that there are many non-Basques living in Basque lands.
Northern Ireland is another issue again. The majority of inhabitants of the Province wish to remain British, a minority wish to join the Republic. Demographic changes over time may eventually favour the republican side. For the moment democracy should prevail and NI should remain British. Note - as far as I'm aware there is little / no suggestion of NI going it alone as an independent state.
Each of the examples you give is different, unfortunately you just can't generalise.

Kosovo wont ever be independent cause its part of serbia and part of serbs! They cant just go and leave something that belonged to them from the time when serbia was made! Its holy part of that land where we have a lot of monasteries and churches, and maybe you havent heard about *Pećka patrijaršija*,and i realy cant translate it to you,but its important part of our history and religion. Also there was battle on Kosovo,28.June,1389.Why am i explaining this after all? They cant, and they wont take it!

Kosovo shouldn't be independent, as you know already, it seems, not just because of these double standards, but because of other, numerous reasons, that I will not repeat here.
Double standards are problem of US government that can become very big in the future. Every person in the world that have any brains can see how their foreign policy is destructive. Things are not simply black and white, the world is not Hollywood movie where you easily can recognize good and bad guys. Giving 2 states for Albanians on the Balkans is not just problem of Serbia anymore, it reflects to whole region. If that really is interest of USA, than it will be. If the course of their foreign policy change after that, which is always possible, will we live to see Albanians in a role of super-terrorists and criminals that treathen to USA?
In this world of "democracy" we can only, as Socrates, claim: "I only know that I don't know anything".

Well noticed,I was starting to think that western people don't realize what is happening on Kosovo...You answered your own question btw,but I would just add that Kosovo is holy land to Serbia,it is the stronghold of Serbian churches and monasteries and it is the place where greatest battle in Serbian history occurred-the Kosovo battle of 1389.

I've answered this type of questins many times, and now I'm repeating my asnwer: Kosovo is part of Serbia, heart of Serbia. Many Serbian monasteries are there, no matter if they're demaged or burnt, they still remain. Kosovo has a great part in Serbian hiaatory, just remember the fight in Kosovo (Kosovski boj) 1389.

Answer is very simple,if u knew any of the Kosovo's history you would know why its sholdnt be,for example-If u knew that there are serbian monasteries on kosovo that are old as far as 3-4 century n.e. you would understand. And there are as many as over 100 of them there. On march 11th 2001 albanians burned over 20 of them, not thinking even for a moment what are they doing.Do we go around burning their mosques? Nope. They attack serbian villages in kosovo, and kill its population without mercy.EU sent their forces there to keep peace but they are corrupted easily.Kosovo has become a center of oranised criminal, white slavery, murder and a deathtrap for every christian not only serbs. How many different nations live in California? They have more Chinese and Japanese people (not to mention Mexicans) that they should ask for there own independence right?Like kosovo is?No1 is talking about serbs slaughtering albanians or other way around, our goverment offered their representatives to live in a autonomy with serbia as a minority in serbia. But no,they want to form their own state or join albania?Who are they to claim the land of our ancestors, where many millions of our people died, never to conquer and allways in defending our homeland, and now they claim that land as their own?The entire region has fallen in darkness since they started killing serbian population in 2001 after serbian army left. Why is Bush backing Albaninas up?Because kosovo lies on oil and coal, and since USA's interest has allways been oil they will rather back up albania to mass populate kosovo so they can put a claim to it,like they did, then back up serbia because we are in good relations with russia.Well trust me on this,as long as there is one of us left,to remmember our history,we will never stop defending our country.PS for all of you that read this, think about your country and its minorities...What would your country do if one of your provinces has decided to separate,(it has been populated by that minority in the last 20 years) and your country ancestors bled and lived there for centuries.....Za Srbiju!
