No way will you look too gothic, trust me. I wore a black smock style dress with purple tights and black heels on a recent night out, admittedly it was Halloween, but seriously I will wear that outfit again next week when I go out. It'll look fine on you I'm sure!!

I think that Grey, light purple, dark purple, or fusia would look great. Black would be too much black (you wouldnt stand out) and white would look too checker board. Try a pattern.

I think black tights would be great with black boots and dress. Wear a pretty necklace, pin or belt to be center of attention, and you won't look too goth.

You probably will look emo wearing a black dress, purple tights, and black boots. Try a lighter color, like maybe a lighter purple, and use brighter accessories.

I was going to say purple, how about blue? A lighter purple? Maybe you could stick with black and wear patterned.

I would wear black tights with your black boots.. if you wear purple, people might think you're still trying to dress up for Halloween.

Good luck!

It Totally depends on your personality and what you like!
i would wear a bold colour such as purple or red or blue to stand out but black or grey would look more glamorous.
it depends on how you want to look!
xx

Red would look a lot better, purple is a little bit gothic.Red gives a nice contrast in my opinion.
