Not to be mean or anything..... but some answers are just stupid.
especially "IDK, my BFF Jill..."
That is very annoying.
And one time I asked "What's you favorite modern progressive rock band?" and got "MCR!!!!!!! <3 "

Your examples?

Man, just reading all of the accumulated answers brought me down! Where do you draw the line? Maniacal fanaticism is alive and festering! So is blind unmitigated ignorance. Sheesh!

I don't ask many questions; I never have. Most of my learning comes about through absorption, and hey, I've been learning here. Because I scan most of the entire offering of R&P when I'm here, the questions alone bring me down. The few questions I've asked have answers that have both elated and deflated me. I really want to thank the folks that are serious about the category (you know who you are). To all the others, don't you have a better place to be?

First: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
Second: "Hell is other people."
Third: This is what we get for teaching keyboarding skills to Middle-schoolers.

*Edit* Chunga, I AM a hippie, man . . . (was that what the Buffalo Springfield were singing about when Steven Stills said, " . . . what's that smell . . .")?

I'm with ya.

Of the many skills we possess (or should), "sifting" is one that I've found to be consistently applicable. It could be easy to get distraught or bummed scanning through this section (or any other section here) but I do believe it's imperative to always remember where we're at. (Y!A)

For whatever reasons, it's perty much all here guys. The ole melting pot can get rather ugly sometimes, eh! And seriously... I doubt it's going anywhere.

sift...sift...sift

Keep sifting through the litter and the wreckage and every now and then, we'll come up on those diamonds in the rough.

It's either that or .... find that better place.

Some guy that went of on a big long rant about how chatting was against the Yahoo Terms Of Service. And all I had done was ask a music question. At least the moron got about 12 thumbs down. The worst part, He was a TC.

I always love it when I ask a question clearly about rock and then someone answers...
"I don't know, I like country."
1st question, if you like country, why are you here?
2nd question, why bother if you're not going to have a decent discussion and just put something random and meaningless?

I too love it when people compare bands like Zeppelin and legends like John Lennon to the bands of today. It's a slap in the face to even have them in the same sentence!
All I have to ask myself is... why do some people have heads? I mean really?

idk but the dumbest questions are when people compare an emo artist with like a legend such as "who is better FOB or led zepplin" who would even consider comparing the two??? another one is when somebody asked for emo bands that sound like MCR and some like that with no swearing and lyrics like the jonas brothers! how do you find an alternative band with baby lyrics??!!! the dumbest answers are when people click on a random question and type in random letters!

"I can smell you from here you dirty hippie!"

Edit -
buffster54 - No, I think Steve was referring to Neil Young's smelly feet (they were/are pretty rank).
It's funny you happened to make reference to 'For What It's Worth'. I was just listening to 'Art', and their rendition of that very same tune! Art were basically the precursor to the original lineup of the UK band 'Spooky Tooth' before American Gary Wright joined them.
Excellent version by the way! Highly recommended!

ok, maybe I dont have a stupid answer, but this is sure a stupid question:

Gerard Way (of My Chemical Romance) or John Lennon??

Who would ask that? John Lennon is a legend, and Gerard way is from a manufactured rock band.

Pathetic.....

Here was one of the answers:
My Chemical Romance all the way!!! (who the heck is John Lennon)

Its sad how many people picked gerard way.

JOHN LENNON FOR LIFE

I don't usually ask questions on rock & pop. But I saw this question yesterday. It asked "Who sings better: Elvis or Jesse?"

And what I don't believe is the first answer. How could anyone possibly think some talent less loser is better than the king of rock & roll.

Here take a look yourself:
