Ive been learning proofs for the past few weeks and I understand how to label the diagrams but I get confused with what step comes next and what th. or postulate goes with it...

previous to the two columns you should have a Clear statement of everything that is given, a clear statement as to what is to be proved and a picture that helps make things clear.

The two columns are Statements and Reasons
Reasons can be Axioms, Postulates, Definitions, Previously proven theorems or Given data.

Most usually the first statement is a given fact such as
angle C = angle = D and the accomanying reason is of course given.

Now you must look at the picture , the given data, and the theorem that is to be proved and ask yourself how can I possibly prove this? Start with relatively easy proofs that take only a few steps.

If you were given measure of angle A = 50 degrees and measure of angle B = 130 degrees and you were told to prove that angle A and angle B are supplementary, you would write
1. m 2. m 3 Therefore m 4. Therefore Q.E.D

Practice, Practice, Practice. It's fun to prove things. Once you do prove something, no one can dispute it.

So what are you asking?
If you're asking about the steps that come next and stuff... it obviously depends on what you're proving.
