I do mean the truth as in some fact/s not some 'gossip' you believed to be the truth but were mistaken.

Yes, a little old lady once asked me what I thought of a hat she'd bought at a garage sale and I said it really wasn't her style (It was hideous). She was really upset - wish I hadn't said anything!

Never tell a woman that she looks like she's gained weight.
Even if she looks like she ate a cow for lunch, if she asks for an HONEST opinion, you MUST lie unless you want to hear her complaining for the next year that you said she was fat, when in fact all you said was, "You don't look any thinner", when in fact you were thinking, "If you get any fatter, the floor will collapse under your weight".
