Why do humans think they are more special than animals?

Whether we are more special, or beautiful than animals...these are human values, human judgments. So of course we do.

As for intelligence, I haven't seen any animals that can compare to us in that category. Very few other animal species even have the ability to use tools.

Of course intelligence too is relative, and while we may be relatively more intelligent than the other animals, the fact that most of us still believe in gods and other mythologies proves that we are still not all that smart in absolute terms.

people think their better because they ARE more intelligent. they believe anything with a lower level of intelligence is a lower class. this even happens in human society; if somebody isn;t as intelligent as another, they are always mistreated. with beauty however, i think animals are much more beautiful than people, since animal's have natural beauty. humans, in my opinion, have artificial beauty. animals are naturally beautiful because they dont wear anything to make them better looking. imagine, if humans walked around naked with no make-up or anything. we wouldn't be beautiful naturally right?

I think we are special any a way because we rationalize and we talked. but nevertheless we are all equal.... in its fullest sense. Just remember a thought, about a 2 guys fighting.... they called themselves ANIMALS each other. I think its enough for us to be reminded that we are unruly at times.... and that is a characteristic that we mostly describe animals.
