Is it time for America to break away from the UK and find real allies - not that France has a particularly good record with the US, albeit 1776 and 1812.

Britain can no longer be trusted as an ally - but Australia, Japan, Canada and France, maybe Germany almost certainly can be. France is on board with the US on Iran and the neo-USSR. As are the rest.

French Fries for all!

France economy is on the down side.
Long time ago they formulated a plan to try to be the top dog in Europe's again. This plan was to call all European countries to band together as (somewhat states) a Union. Of course the wanted a top dog billing. Well their economy and military was the joke of Europe, so they got Germany to help. After forming the Euro they failed as top dog. The world is at an economic war with each other and USA is the top dog..So the USA crushed the USSR economically and forced a show down with Japan. US had to loan them money in the 80's.
Now as of today the dollar is lower then the EURO so all the EUROPEAN counties are buying American and not European products. The economic war with Europe is almost over. The French President knows his politics and swung the French view to "we need the USA and it's way and not the communistic way". Our big economic war is with China, we lost the brazer battle, now it's toys, cars and oil battles. Great Britian will be and shall be our allies the bond was set in WWII

Despite appearances, Sarkozy doesn't agree unconditionally with Bush on everything, unlike how Blair seemed to behave (now Blair - oops, keep on typing "Bliar" - really was Bush's poodle). Still, it's good to see France and the USA working together for once instead of perpetuating the same old emnity. Ultimately, you get more done if you work together as opposed to for ever starting disagreements.

I await with interest Blair's memoires, for which he's just signed a book deal for of at least a few million dollars.

Nope. Britain is so tied to thee US militarily, technology wise and through intelligence that the bond will be very tight for the foreseeable future. Only through the changing demographics in both countries could one day see them go their separate ways. The French have always liked to be independent and will always look to Europe before America.

Can't we just be equal friends instead of sucking on the "guy's balls" for France.

Germany... Hasn't had the best of all histories...

It isn't an opinion to say the possible war with Iran is ethically wrong, and DOOMED to fail... it is a FACT. I am right, here.

Although, France is still cool. I like those guys. =]

sarkozy is just another neocon trying to fill Blairs shoes, however if he continues down the path he has chosen and prioritises America over his own country his own people will soon be rid of him. The only reason Blair was not got rid of was there was no credible opposition party in the UK.

Blair pulled his head out of Bushs a......s and Sarkovi has stuck his in quick.

This is to be expected as Sark is messianic jewish decent, and fits well with the neo-cons.
