They do a wide collection of things but the below examples is a good way to give you an idea of the type of work they do.
-Deer are starting to over-run an area to the point that they are starving or destroying the area. A manager might come into the area to review the situation and help decide the best route to take be it a cull, relocation, birth control, etc. They will also look into the other plant and wildlife in the area and how they are doing with the problem.
-Say wolves are reintroduced into an area/park. The managers will help to keep track of them, how they are doing, how the other wildlife in the area is doing, etc, etc, etc. They will also assist with problems and or other situations as they arise.
More or less since man has screwed things up with this planet they work to try and help keep things going on the right path be it through a census, removal of animals (killing or relocation), introductions, testing for disease, or remaining hands off and just keeping records of things so the "science world" can learn more.
