I like reving my car to hear the awesome sound and don't do it often, but did it to 3k to 3,500 RPMs.

Provided your engine is healthy and the oil is changed regularly, there is nothing wrong with revving up the engine. As a matter of fact, several manufacturers used to recommend full throttle runs from a standing start up to 60 mph in order to blow the carbon off the combustion chambers since this run would take the engine to the red line at least twice. Go ahead and enjoy!

It's not a good idea to rev an unloaded engine, a lot of internal metal freewheeling doing nothing. If you want to hear your exhaust note, keep the transmission in a lower gear and accelerate to 3,000 or whatever and listen to it.

3,000 is nothing to worry about. I've gone past 6 in my 4 banger.
