Its a possiblilty.
With Mike Lowell probably not going back to the Sox, he could be signed as a Yankee which weakens the Sox team.
The Yankees rotation will be excellent with,
(1. Wang
(2. Ian Kennedy
(3. Phillip Hughes
(4. Joba Chamberlain
(5. Mike Mussina
Only 1 weak spot their. That could be the best starting rotation in the majors.
Their lineup will be awesome, (even if Posada leaves which he will not) the Yankees will score runs bottom line.
The only weak sport is their bullpen. Hopefully they can sign Carlos Silva too put him in the 5th spot instead of Mussina or convert him to a reliever which would give the Yankees a great boost if their started only goes 4 innings or so.

properly, being a Mets fan, i imagine the Mets definently have a threat to win, yet they actually have a threat to do extremely negative again. there are multiple question marks. Will Pedro be healthful? How will Maine and Perez adjust to being the important Met Pitchers? Will Ramon Castro be extra positive or worse with extra playing time? Did Delgado basically have a foul 3 hundred and sixty 5 days or is he in a downward spiral? what's going to the Mets do for pitching with the lack of Glavine and Mota (both no longer my fave pitchers, yet nonetheless we favor some important inning munchers contained in the bullpen)?DId Castillo's knee surgical treatment help or damage him? Will Johnny Estrada inclusive of his new surgical treatment have an all renowned human being 3 hundred and sixty 5 days again or get even worse than lastyear? Will the mets get Santana and if so who will they commerce to do it? All of those questions ought to teach many thoughts. wonderful case situation, the Mets ought to have a crew that has little to no competition contained in the NL east (sorry Phillies) and ought to likely beat the AL winner contained in the WS. Worst case situation, they have yet another 2007 except without the coolest first 1/2. base line, convinced, the Mets definently have a combating threat to win the WS, notwithstanding the words "combating" and "threat" are strongly emphasised.

I think it will be very interesting to see what the Yankees are made of in 2008. I would never try to guess who will win next season until I can get a look at the teams and see what they can do.

Trade Damon for Santana? Are you serious!? Please if Minnesota wanted a washed up clown they would go dig up Canseco or another stiff! If Minnesota wanted a Centerfielder so bad wouldn't Coco Crisp be a better, especially if Boston would help pay the salary?!
Anyone who answers yes is just being a homer and not objectively answering the question!
The best answers are those who tell you to ask again in about 2 months (free agents and trades need to be done to fill MAJOR gaps in All teams right now!)
With the only minor exception being Boston! Outside of 3rd base we know what we are getting from them.
Lowell and A-rod could both not sign with Boston leaving a huge void at 3rd but Boston would fill that and be ok regardless. If they got both Lowell 3B and A-Rod SS how scarey would that team be?!
So that being said the Yankees can't even be considered favorites to win their division at this point, so to predict a WS is insane!

Sharon, it is way too early to tell. It depends on a lot of variables. They need to leave the pitching staff in tact, although Mussina and Pettitte are both questions marks.
A-Rod needs to be replaced, and my choice is Mike Lowell, not Miguel Cabrera.
Girardi needs to be the man and fill Torre's shoes and in a hurry.
Gotta get Mo and Posada resigned.
If they accomplish this there is an outside chance, but I look for Boston to be just as tough in that division again next year.

Wow. All these haters probably like the Orioles or something. Or they turned into Indians fans when they found out they were playing the Yankees.
Yankees will always be in contention to win the WS, even if they're in last place.

It is difficult to pick a winner before the trades are made and the roster is set, but there is no doubt the Yankees will be in the mix like they are every year.

Do you Yankee fans ever give up? It has been like this since 2000, and it hasn't happened since, nor will it happen next year or the year after. You are a different team now than you were back then.

They could because in the past, when a manager leaves or retires, the new skipper won the world series the very next year!
