The War on Poverty is, and yet, another failed entitlement program! There are more people living below the poverty level now than when it was implemented! Do we have an exit strategy in this war?? Are we just going to keep throwing money at the problem? This program designed to "fight" poverty is the absolute best way to keep poverty going! When are we going to cut our losses and acknowledge that this is a war we cannot win!?!?

GREAT QUESTION...Libs answer to everything is tax the hell out of anyone whom has money, and throw it at the problems of the poor.

Have you seen what qualifies as poor? People w/ TV's in their childrens bedroom, Michael Jordan Shoes, the latest Sony Playstation & the hottest games....and they qualify as POOR in this country...ROFL.

I remember when poor ment you didn't have shoes for your feet, and wondered where your next meal was coming from.

What a joke.

Oh well, that's the beauty of this country: YOU can be ANYTHING you CHOOSE to be...from President of the country, to a homeless bloke living under a bridge. It's all a matter of wanting it bad enough, and being able to get off your **** and work for it. Too many raised in liberal house holds whopm are told the Government will do it all for you.

ROFLMAO...I remember a time when a great DEMOCRAT once said: Ask NOT what your country can do for you, but what YOU can do for your country. They've totally flip-flopped...now all they do is sit around and ask for more hand-outs, and the Dems pan-handle to them regulaurly for votes...PATHETIC, really.

Ask not what your country can do for you...LOL...if JFK were alive today, Hillary would have him run out of town screaming about it taking a village...

Great question!

Of course it is a war which cannot be won. The world has had, still does, and always will have poverty. There will NEVER be equality across the board. Also, charity can't and shouldn't be legislated. Forced charity is not charity at all.

Why are there more people living below the poverty line than ever before? Two reasons...
1. There are more people than ever before. Out of sheer odds, this means there will be more poor people than ever before.
2. Entitlement programs such as minimum wage will not work. The people at the bottom of the food chain who receive these handouts will still be at the bottom, and will have to pay the higher prices for goods because of the resulting higher manufacturing costs. This takes away the raise in salary from those who received it, and drags down those who were barely making it and hovering just above the level which would have qualified them for to salary handout.

war has been around for thousands of years...and will be around long long after we are dead. There are wars to fight for right reasons and wrong...to show other countries the force that they don't have and to in a sense extort them...well that's just plain ego and pride stupidity. We began fighting this war for good reasons and just like every other war...things turned bad against us and we continue to make excuses to keep fighting in the wars.....this will never stop. Poverty is at an all time low and it will only get worse.

I am not a religious person however there's a script in the bible my grandmother said that one day man will be its worse enemy and the world will become lost over man kinds foolishness....to put it in simple terms...well if anyone watched the news or reads the papers...that is what is happening right now.

We are still fighting this war because George Warmonger Bush is an idiot. He has his own agenda. He is reckless with the spending of our trillions of dollars. Conservatives will lash out that Dem's want nothing but taxes. But, how can they not see where in the hell is this 6.5 trillion dollars coming from? Why not spend money for our own US citizens to rebuild our country that has spiraled downward during the Bush administration? He vetoes health care for children for 35 billion yet 6.5 trillion is needed to kill? What about education? He cuts spending. He vetoed a bill to repair dams, water quality projects, and flood control. Anything that can help stimulate our economy or help our citizens he vetoes. All money for war nothing else matters to him.

When a killer is at your door what will you do?
If he tried to kill and then succeed in killing 5000 what will you do? Cry for help or defend your home (country).
If a man(Iran, N.Korea) has Criminal back ground will you let him have a gun.(nuke).
A show of force is a deterrent to some of them others we have to shed blood to defend our homes. Have you read your history how , what, when and where about wars. The world looks at the USA as a cop on duty around the world.
Sit back and relax while others defend your freedom of speech and your home.
P.S you will always have the poor but you will not always have the freedom.

Pickens told us oil was out and he was building wind farms. What a moron to believe the green movement that wind is viable on a national level.

Worse, it's a two-front war: don't forget the equally successful 'War on Drugs.'
