Black smoke is indicative of a very rich mix (e.g. too much gas versus air). Blue smoke is indicative of oil been burned. Your rich gas mix is also the reason why your mileage is so poor. Stop playing around and getting frustrated and do yourself a favor: take it to a diagnostic place; they usually charge around $45 dollars to hook it up to the computer and will give you a printout showing exactly what is wrong with your Durango. It may be something very simple and inexpensive to fix (e.g. oxygen sensor)

is the check engine lamp on? if not something is weird. from the sounds of it, you are running too rich and overheating the catalytic converter. this should cause a check engine lamp to blink. take it to the dealer for diagnosis, if the cat converter is bad it may still be warranty

If you have been driving in this condition you have no doubt destroyd the converter and the O2 sensors. Take it to a MUFFLER SHOP.If you go to dealer or auto repair it will cost you much more $$$
