Creating a logo, or any graphic, is an artistic effort, and you can create one easily without dependence on a Website, If you are a windows user, any picture you create,or composite in paint, or just about any other graphic drawing program will work just fine.

The only thing you need to know is how to set the size of the thing, and what picture format to save it in. For most Yahoo groups, etc, saving your Picture/Drawing/Logo as a .JPEG or GIF file will work just fine. Many printers even come with software that includes a drawing and viewing utility that will handle this fun task.
Don't forget that you can scan in handmade pictures, crop and mix 'em, retouch and add text to them to make a Logo. If your site is child based, you could even have the children pitch in to make the Logo. Most Publishing software, site creation software, even word processors, mostly expect you are going to import your graphic from a file, then drag and drop it where you want it. re-size it, whatever. The application usually takes care of this very simply. If, for some reason, the logo absolutely must be "hard-wired" to the text, you could just reverse the process, and import the text into your drawing program, along with the logo, and save the whole thing as a JPEG or GIF. This gives you a "photo" of the whole thing, The only advantage I can see in this is that , since you now have a picture rather than text image, in some situations it might keep people from rewriting the text.

Bear in mind that any website as might allow you to use their software to "draw a logo" is just, in the end, going to require that you transfer the file you end up with to your box, or PC anyway.
