It helps to think of percentages like pieces of a pie (or a pizza, if you enjoy Italian cuisine!). Simply put, it's a PORTION of a WHOLE. We use 100% to describe the whole pie, 0% to describe none of the pie, and values between 0% and 100% to describe a slice of the pie. The higher the percentage, the larger the slice. Make sense?
So, what would half the pie be? It would be 100% / 2, or 50%, right? Since 25% is exacly half of 50%, you are talking about half of 1/2, which is 1/4, or a quarter of the pie.
So the easiest way to determine 25% of anything is to simply divide the original by 4. Try it. You'll discover this will match all the answers people have been throwing at you!
In general, to calculate ANY percent of something:
(1) change the % to a decimal by dropping the % sign and moving the decimal point two places to the LEFT.
(2) replace the word "of" to a multiplication sign!
(3) multiply the two numbers, and bam! There is your answer!
Now try it:
What is 40% of $129? If you did it correctly, your answer should be slightly less that half.
What is 60% of $129? If you did it correctly, your answer should be slightly more that half.

Well 25% is 1/4 of 100%. And $129.00 is 100% in this equation. So basically to get 25% of 129 you divide it by 4.
$129.00/4 = $32.25

all you have to do is turn 25% into a decimal: .25

an easierr way is:

An easy way that i got taught to find 25% is to..
HALF it, then HALF it again :]
129/2 = 64.5
64.5/2 = $32.25
OR times 129 by 0.25 = $32.25
