There are so many areas in our life that we can fail at/feel unstatisfied with.

Are we all just destined for unhappiness? I know our life is filled with ups and downs. At what one point you'll feel on the top of the world, then a few weeks later you'll feel as down as ever...

It just feels as though everyday I'm living with a constant cloud over the top of my head, I try to keep myself but it never stops me having a few dispressing thoughts to myself.

I just feel I'm in a constant circle of having a period of happiness and confidence, but then always returning to state of unhappiness, affected by various things, like: (school) work, extra activities, health, socialising (that's getting me down quite a bit) or staying active.

Are there any ways, which you can learn to push those negative thoughts to the back of your head?

Yes. It seems so.
Instead of thinking the unhappy thought, replace it with a happy one.
I really doesn't matter what it is about.
I am lonely> I am healthy.
I don't like my work> I am able to buy whatever I like.
It is cold outside> I have a warm bed.
Our thoughts are the the things we must war against.
C. :)!!

I had a really great soccer coach one time tell me after a tragedy in my life: ''Life is about not letting your highs get too high or your lows too low''. It sounds like you could use his words.
Whenever I'm feeling down like that I think about all the great things in life. Love, sports, family, friends, my hopes for the future. Sometimes a hope you have for the future can be enough just by itself. It does require a certain amount of willful ignorance when your problems are staring you in the face, but it can work. Self esteem is a tricky bast ard. It builds on itself. You can't just get a whole bunch all at once. You get some, then you can get a little more, then more and so on. So start by finding something that makes you feel good. Maybe that could be going to the gym, or taking a dance class, or kung fu... whatever, as long as its physical. Your body will naturally feel good with the endorphins and you can use that plus the positive self image when you see your improved looks in the mirror to build on. Also try meeting new people. Old relationships can get so stale. Not that you should throw them away, old friends are most often the best ones, but new relationships give you new perspective on yourself and help keep your mind at peace.
Good luck, and if nothing else works, go get help, theres no shame in that.

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Christians are in a constant battle with the wiles of the devil. His deceit is usually not blatant. He comes at us as an angel of light. His presentation of evil looks good and we can be led down the wrong path a little bit at a time. Our culture is controlled by the devil. What do we watch on television. Is is gradually leading us away from the Lord and how he has told us to live? What do we read? Who are our close friends? Our thought patterns are changed slowly until we are finally taken captive. We have to defend ourselves and our familes. We do this with such things as prayer, fasting, hiding God's Word in our hearts, going to church, keeping company with believers instead of unbelievers. Worshiping God at home as a family. We have to constantly examine our lives. Are we putting the kingdom of God first or do we remember him once a week? We all go through times of uncertainty.During the times of uncertainty in our lives we need to keep on doing the things that we do know to do. The trial will pass.

You should never be unhappy, obviously there will be days when you feel better than others but a normal day should not make you feel unhappy. Your heart is looking for something, and in your present state its not there, something needs to change, do you go to church, it sounds like the spiritual side of you is seeking but not finding, Pick up your Bible and start reading in the Gospel of John of the new testament. Seek the bible says and ye shall find. Good luck!!!
