lets see, the halo series was a great game, not to take anything away from it. However, it didnt really define anything new. We have seen countless first person shooters before that series was started. The developers just did a good job in making the game, and that is why it gets so much attention.
On the other hand, GTA is one of those games everyone has thought of making, or wished would have been made. You have this wide open area and you can do whatever you want in this world. The earlier versions, such as GTA 3, had very few restrictions. One thing that comes to mind was not being able to go in all the buildings, and you couldnt swim, etc.
What's better? GTA. Can you imagine how much freedom you will have in the future with this series. I can imagine in about 10 years, having a GTA or spawn of that series, in which you can explore the whole world, virtually. How awesome would it be to have a GTA game that has the whole world as the game?

The Grand Theft Auto series is way better the Halo Series. Grand Theft Auto 4 is going to sell more games than Halo 3, I guarantee it.
Without the multiplayer and online gameplay for Halo 3, it wouldn't be much of a game because I've heard that the campaign mode takes like 4 or 5 hours to beat.
Grand Theft Auto 4 or any of the Grand Theft Auto games dont need online and multiplayer to be a good game because the story mode and side missions give you just as much gameplay.

I rather have the two and that i cherished gta for a mutually as yet after your executed with the story mode it gets boaring. Halo is extra desirable because of the fact even after the story mode it remains exciting with each and all the hot element the come out with.

I enjoy GTA a lot more than Halo. I have halo 3 sitting in my room collecting dust....

Halo. Graphics and story-line are better, and aren't nearly as trashy. GTA is just a horrible series, all told.

GTA is way better.
GTA is exciting, contriversal, and pretty much a giant awesome sandbox.
Halo is just your average FPS with a cool looking hero.

umm halo because it has online play which is amazing the story pretty good
