Is there any law that addresses this situation. What recourse do I have to get my pay?

I'm already looking for a new job anyway. yes I was told I would get a raise on a specific date, for the promotion I received. I just want to get paid for the job I did.

You don't have any recourse. There is no state law in Texas that you must be given a raise. Did the written document state that you would be given a raise on a specific date?

"On October 1st your new salary will be $9.00 per hour." or something similar to this? If they did stipulate that you were to be given a specific amount on a specific date then you may have some ground to go to your wage and labor office to file a complaint. But, realize, that if you file a complaint against your employer there is a good chance that your promotion and raise may be the last one you get for a while. Or you could be let go for any reason at any time since Texas is a right to work state.

Unless you had a written contract guaranteeing you a raise as of a particular date, it's not "your money" until the employer decides to give you the raise. If what you were told in writing specified a date and the employer didn't live up to that, talk to them and ask for the amount you didn't get.

Forget it. Even if you took them to court the most you could get would be the extra back pay raise and then you would lose your job. Texas is a right to work state, which means they have the right to fire you for any reason.
