So the xmas card will have a collage on the front with xmas related images printed on normal printer paper. what can i put on top so the pictures are sealed in after I glued them down? I don't think decoupage glue would be good because i THINK it would smear the ink

The first poster mentioned some great stuff, there's this white container called "Mod Podge," and basically it's a glue-like substance, very liquidy, you just need to brush it on whatever area you want to stick together, and it works great.

It's a bit messy, not too bad, it makes the area kinda white, but when it dries, it dries CLEAR, which is really important for crafts and artwork. It's also pretty easy to clean up, and it comes right off your hands. I recommend using a cheapy brush too.

Go to a crafting store and pick up some "podgy" Seriously, that's what it's called. You might also want to pick up a small sponge brush for it.
It won't smear anything, and since the stuff is really a clear glaze it will give it a picture look.

I've had good luck with a thin layer of plain white glue on pictures from magazines, but I don't know about the ink from your printer.

Have you considered scanning your finished collage and reprinting that? It would be easier. Then you could cover it all with adhesive-backed plastic of some sort, either matt-finished or glossy, or with an over layer of imitation vellum (paper).

The ink will not smear, but be sure to use thin coats.
Also there is a spray sealer that is made for just this and I guess it works well.
One more thought. Make your fronts more of a scrap book style and don't seal them at all.
Good luck!

You could lay a clear sticker sheet over it and then trim it to the edges. They have them in office supply stores.

Another cool technique might be to put a clear sticker over each little picture separately, before you mount them onto the card. Trim the clear sticker right to the edges of each of your little pictures. Then when you mount them on the card, they'll be protected but still 3D.

it incredibly is great to be happy with your sons and daugheters yet to flaunt them (in undies) in a Christmas card is superb creepy. in certainty, it incredibly is totally almost as irritating by way of fact the college instructor who had intercourse along with her 14 year previous male pupil. No offense on your chum and her mothers and fathers yet what's faulty WITH those human beings?

They have a clear varnish at the craft store. It should be with the acrylic paint. Brush that on top.
