I want to put a design on my pair of chucks. Can anyone tell me how? I want to make it look a little professional and found out that the best way is acrylic paint and waterproof pens. I have no experience in painting whatsoever so I'm getting some cheap canvas to practice on. I'm hoping I can make it so that the painted parts will be solid and not opaque like when you use fabric markers to color in something on a T-shirt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

Airbrushing is also a good technique. You can always make your own stencils to keep the design original.

The thing to watch with acrylics is that they may crack when you wear the shoes.

I would go with fabric paint. They come in SO MANY cool options these days. I use them for EVERYTHING! There are metallics, glitter (clear paint with colored glitter), crystal (Colored paint with iridescent glitter), gloss, matte, etc. You don't have to use them right from the bottle, you can squeeze some out and paint with a brush. Don't get cheap-o brushes, you will end-up with bristles all over your shoes.

One thing you might try is to find a cool (not-too-detailed) rubber stamp, paint on it with the fabric paint and stamp it on the shoes, or use permanent stamp ink and then paint the design with the paint.

Also you can adhere crystals or rhinestones?? Or iron-on patches.

I agree with the other answer, acrylics can crack as you wear the shoes. ya know there are paints specially for fabrics, they probably won't crack, and airbrushing is also a good idea.

i admire 'em. The low tops. Black or crimson. i don't write on them (it rather is cheesy). i've got worn them for a pair of years, and after awhile the the canvas rips faraway from the rubber sole.
