An argumentative essay presents both sides of an issue and generally concludes with your own preference and why you chose that side. So think about the two-sided issues in your own experience. Maybe it's summer vs. winter, or Christmas vs. Thanksgiving, Morality vs. Technology, Science vs. Religion, Books vs. Movies, Religion vs. Politics, Republicans vs. Democrats, Hispanics vs. Asians, Pasta vs. Potatoes, Men vs. Women, History vs. Geography, Love vs. Passion, Sausage vs. Bacon -- the list goes on. Do you get the idea? You can make it as serious or lighthearted as you wish, depending on how your instructor grades. These are just a few suggestions to get you started. Good luck!

I wrote an argumentative essay in high school about the legalization of marijuana. It was a huge hit with my fellow students, surprisingly the teacher was impressed too. Write about something current, for example the war or privatized schooling, etc. good luck

Write about something that you are exteremely passionate about, like how cats are better than dogs, or vice versa. If you want to talk about something more political, find a strong base.
