You know for like a birthday party like what does the R and the S and V and P stand for? Does it stand for anything? Where is it from? Sorry a lot of questions! ;) I've just always wondered.

As usual, no-one bothers to spell French correctly!!

RSVP = répondez s'il-vous-plaît

which means 'please respond'. It is found on invitation cards for events and is a request for the recipient to reply indicating whether or not they can attend said event.

Repondez S'il Vous Plait, it is French, literally, "Respond if you please" and is used to indicate that a response is needed indicating whether the recipient will be attending the soire that the invitation was for, so that sufficient ammenities (Food, place-settings, etc) are available.
