I didn't want to say "fart smell" but that's what it basically smells like! I have an 04 Toyota Corolla with 73K miles on it. Lately I've noticed a smell coming from it. Don't know what it is? Could be the transmission fluid?

It sounds like you have an Emissions Control Problem and most likely this smell is followed by a "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" lamp or the lamp will come on soon which basically states your ECU ( Engine control Unit) has detected the cause of the smell and is warning you about the problem i would recommend having your trouble codes pulled ( if the light is on) you can have this done at a local Advance Auto Parts or almost any parts store for free if the scan returns a code the sales rep./service tech. will notify you of what kind of service your vehicle needs done if the lamp is NOT on and you get NO codes then you should consider having your converter checked if the smell is comming from the converter, the converter is usually making a kind of rattleing noise (comming from under the vehicle) that may be your prob. but i wouldn't consider checking/replacing that untill you check the lap codes because it may be something much LESS expensive and it is highlly unlikely that the smell is comming from the trans. fluid being low that shouldn't do anything but cause trans. damage loss of power and ALOT of other probs. but not usually any smells but i would reccomed checking the fluid or having it proffessionaly which ever you choose if it has not been done in a while.. I hope this helps and good luck and god bless!!!!

Most likely coming from the exhaust. The catalytic converter is producing the smell. Your engine may be running too rich.

Barring a ineffective mousie who desperate your saved motor vehicle could be only the area to hibernate with the aid of the iciness, the scent could be coming from the air-conditioning section. An accumulation of ineffective leaves and different detritus motives a rotten scent to emit once you start up the motor vehicle, and/or turn on the AC. there's a sparkling product so you might purchase that makes that section scent extreme-high quality returned, and covers up any pungent scent. in need of that, an entire removing and freshen up of the canopy section, and the AC unit, is the only thank you to give up the scent! additionally, examine below the seats, and the glove field, around the sprint section, and interior the door hinges.
