Well, the hedge hog has quills that poke.

It depends on how "hands on" you want to be with your new pet.

The rest of their care is pretty similar. It's just more difficult to pick up the hedgy.

Have fun which ever you decide.

I'd pick a hedge hog over guinea pig any day...I had a hedge hog before and she was very easy to take care of. I want to get another one but i cant with my kids right now they are too young. If you get your hedge hog pretty young they will adapt you and your other pets if they dont try to eat it. My cat and dog both liked mine and like to play with her running around the house all the time.

I love my guinea pig but I've never owned a hedgehog so I can't really compare the two. But guinea pigs are about the most affectionate, sweetest, and funniest looking creatures around. They need about an hour of out-of-their cage exercise, fresh veggies, hay, and pellets fed every day. The cages should be fully cleaned out once a week but freshened each day. Guinea pigs live best in pairs or groups.

A guinea pig. Hedgehogs are cute, but the messiest things on the planet, and not exactly cuddly! Plus they hibernate through the winter.

They're not similar creatures. Hedgehogs are insectivores (you feed them catfood), guinea pigs are herbivores. Suggest whichever you choose you do lots of research - preferably not on Yahoo!

I think it's really weird how hedgehogs are popular pets in America!!

Guinea pig. I've had four, and they're so fun and cute.
Hedgehogs are neat little guys but you can't play with them very well, and they're a little bit pokey. They're also much more expensive.
