here I think you want to solve for x

first step is to multiply 18 times -55/78

which is -12.69

gives the new equation

54x + (-12.69) = -7

second step is to add -12.69 to both sides

this gives

54x = -19.69

third divide both sides by 54

this gives

x = -0.36

54x + 18(-55/78) = -7

54x + (-990/78) = -7 reduce by dividing (...) by 6

54x + (-165/13) = -7 move across

54x = (165/13) - 7 get common denominator

54x = (165/13) - (91/13)

54x = 74/13

x = (74/13) times 1/54 = 74/702 get common denominator

74/702 is also 37/351 (each divided by 2)

54x - 165/13 = -7
54x = 165/13 - 7 = 74/13
x = 74/13/54 = 37/351

Just have to stay in fractions.
