My daughter is going there on Tuesday for a field trip, and I was wondering...What do you do there? Like if you can describe it step after step, it would be great. Thanks! :)

Well, it's been a while. You take a ferry over to the Island. Look around the grounds a bit -- great view of the New York skyline, of course. Then you tour the inside buildings. I believe it is self-guided, as you get to see what immigrants saw when they first arrived in New York.

You also can check to see if any of your ancestors passed through Ellis Island upon arriving in the U.S., and has information about adding them to their lists.
