Because their defense played at such a high level last year, it covered up for a lot of offensive problems, which then got worse. I think their biggest mistake was thinking that Cedric Benson could be their every down back, second biggest was the obvious one, not looking to strengthen the QB position.

Hutch, if they wait for another back like Peterson, that could take 20-30 years, so that's not the answer.

they lost their entire running game when they sold the farm for Benson. Now we are all sitting around wondering what would have happened to the bears this year if we would have kept Jones. the defense is falling apart and getting injured because they are on the field too much. without the running game the defense is going to struggle and the Bears will be bad. Hey maybe we can keep falling and pick up Mc Fadden or a qb. One can only hope.

First three games with Grossmann in as QB completely decimated the bears defense. Leaving the D on for 40 minutes a game isn't going to help them recoup. It's just a terrible situation.

The Chicago Bears rode an easy schedule to the playoffs last year playing in a weak division, they were one play from being eliminated by the Seahawks, and then got beat in the Superbowl, their defense is what carried them all that time, now their division is much improved and the Bears are finding out they are not that good to compete with the likes of Green Bay or Detroit in offense or defense, would not be surprise if the Bears wind up in the cellar of the NFC

There defense has been 100 times worse, horrible offence (as usual), I'm a huge bear fan and I am about ready for them just to lose the rest of there games to get a high draft pick and maybe draft another type of guy like Adrian Peterson from the Minnesota Vikings...

Trading Thomas Jones, sticking with Rex Grossman when it was obvious to everyone with a pulse that he can't play at this level, poor coaching, off field player issues, the D is not as good and last year they were very lucky to be the NFC chumps.

Super bowl hangover-usually affecting the loser; for the past 7 years one of the two teams in the superbowl sucks the next season
Rex Grossman-Nuff said.
Jon Kitna-has returned from europe
Calvin Johnson and Adrian Peterson-have arrived
Brett Farve-is out of the nursing home
Their defense-hasnt doen good enough to outweigh their offensive struggles.

They were never that good to being with. Their very solid defense carried them through last season due to the fact they had a soft schedule from having a bad record from the previous year.
