Which universites have an accredited online PhD degree?

Question

I am not referring to one of those fake degrees you can buy online. What I'm looking for is a serious well known establishment either in the U.S. or the U.K. that offers a PhD degree through correspondence.

There are some doctoral degrees offered online but the colleges offering them are not amongst the top colleges. They are regionally accredited though and valid.

Walden University
Nova-Southeastern University
Capella University
Northcentral U.
U Phoenix
Touro International

There are some better respected schools such as:
Liberty U
N. Arizona
Mississippi State
Utah State
New Mexico State

if an EdD is acceptable to your needs.

University of South Africa is another option for you for a doctorate online.

The research based degree of the European system is better suited to study at this level than the US course based system (IMHO) so you may want to explore non-US options (which I can't offer much input on).
