I just got a job at Subway, and I'm starting my training today. What is the training like? Do they just teach us how to make sandwiches and stuff? I think I've pretty much memorized how much stuff to put on the different sandwiches. Also, did you or do you like working at subway? I'm 16 & I had to get a job to help my dad pay for my car insurance & i have to pay for gas. this is my first "real" job so I dont really know what to expect. thanks!

I did when I was your age (I'm 30 now). The sandwiches may be different when I worked there compared to now. When you're training, they'll have someone shadow you to show how the right technique and what goes on what for each sandwich in addition in how to open and close.

You'll have other duties such as cleaning, dishes, prepping, inventory, cash drawer reconciliation and such. Keep in mind that Subways are a franchise so some things will be pretty consistent but there are other things that won't be since each subway is independently owned.

I had a great time and working at Subway has been memorable as it was my first real job as well.

One more thing, you won't be allowed to use the electric slicer until you're 18. I think this is an occupational rule that the restaurant must adhere to.

I had a job at subway about two years ago. I worked for a man who could barely speak english but it really is a very easy job. Once you memorize How to make all the sanwiches, where to get what out the freezer. It's pretty fun. You'll also learn how to make the crab salad, tuna salad, bake the bread and the cookies. They'll teach you how to work all the ovens and toasters and it sounds like a lot but it's really not when you get the hang of it. Good luck and have fun. You'll have a way greater sence of freedom once you start getting your very own paychecks and spending money.

I worked at Subway several years ago. My training was pretty much like the Mean Lady's. I was over 18, so I used the slicer, too.

I really liked working there! More than I expected to, in fact. I quit because we moved out of the state.

You will have no problem if you have memorized all the sandwiches already . That is usually the hardest part for the new ones.I enjoy it most of the time but it does take patience because customers are often in a hurry or having a bad day and you have to smile and take it.

im 16 and ive just done my 3rd shift at subway.

on my first shift i got pretty stressed coz heaps of rules and new things were just coming at me and i really had no idea.
but after that, i got used to do everything else and im still learning!

the 'training' didnt really feel like training at all...my manager just put me at the back on my first shift, prepping and washing and then on my 2nd shift i was put out serving.

you should be fine...someone will be beside you helping serve customers when you make your first sub, so dont stress.

Although i must admit, theres much more to subway than i though. You just need to get used to it
